The short answer

A full EXP bar is your cue to return to the settlement. Use the Wood Goddess Statue with the character you want to improve, choose an offering you can afford, press Pray, select an Inscription from the results and press Accept.

  1. Fill EXP
  2. Return home
  3. Use the statue
  4. Pray & review
  5. Accept

No statue in the build menu? Start with research.

In the Crawling Doom opening, the path to the Wood Goddess Statue goes through Wood Processing research. The early research node is called Wood Processing in the interface; look there before assuming that the statue is missing from your game.

Build a Research Station indoors and let a settler work on the research. Check work priorities if the project is waiting while everyone gathers or crafts. The launch walkthrough places the station inside a small room; that room layout is an example, not a required blueprint.

Wood Processing unlocks the statue and the wooden planks needed for construction. Use a Carpenter Workstation to make the planks, then place and finish the Wood Goddess Statue from the building menu. Follow the material quantities displayed in your own build.

Start with the highlighted Wood Processing node on the left. Finish that research, make planks at the Carpenter Workstation, then construct the statue.

Check the character and the offering.

Select the character whose EXP bar is full and interact with the statue. The upgrade window is titled Consecration. Check the portrait and level in that window before spending anything: the result belongs to that character.

The launch interface offers Minimal, Normal and Plentiful prayers. Each displays a material requirement and growth information. Mana Stones are used in the demonstrated early upgrade; the exact amount is not a fixed price for every level.

Our practical recommendation is to compare the displayed cost with what the rest of your party still needs. A larger offering is a spending choice, not a guarantee of the best result for your build.

Check the portrait and EXP first. Compare Minimal, Normal and Plentiful, read the item requirement below, then use Pray at the bottom right. The numbers shown belong to this example.

Pray, choose a result, then Accept.

Press Pray when you are ready to use the selected offering. The right-hand side then shows the attribute gains and Inscription candidates. Read the candidate tooltips and choose one that fits how you actually use this character.

Press Accept to finish the selection. Do not stop at the result preview and assume that seeing the green stat increases has completed the upgrade. Afterwards, inspect the character’s level and skills before your next expedition.

Retry is a separate spending decision. In the reviewed walkthrough it uses more Mana Stones to generate another result. Read the requirement before using it; accepting a useful result can leave more resources for the next character.

Consecration results with an Inscription tooltip, green attribute gains, Retry and Accept.

Read the Inscription tooltip and the green attribute gains together. Select a suitable Inscription, then press Accept. Retry spends more resources on another result.

Still stuck with a full EXP bar?

Work through this checklist before treating the full bar as a bug. It follows the upgrade sequence above rather than assuming that more dungeon fights will solve every blockage.

  • Missing building: finish Wood Processing and construct the statue, rather than only placing its blueprint.
  • Wrong character: check the portrait and EXP shown in Consecration.
  • Cannot afford the prayer: compare the item requirement with your available materials.
  • Result visible but level unchanged: select an Inscription and complete the Accept step.
  • Interface differs: check your difficulty, game version and the developer’s latest notes before following an older walkthrough.

Before you head back out.

Does 30/30 EXP automatically make a character level 2?

The launch walkthrough shows a level-1 character at 30/30 EXP inside the Consecration window before the upgrade is accepted. Filling that bar and completing the statue interaction are separate steps; 30 is an observed early example, not a universal EXP requirement.

Which offering is best?

There is no single recommendation here for every character or difficulty. Compare the shown cost, growth information and remaining party resources. This guide explains the interaction, not an optimized offering formula.

Why do some guides show locks on upgrade results?

In its 6 September feedback announcement, CanOpener described stat-growth and Inscription locking as available on Easy and Normal, with expansion to all difficulties planned. A planned expansion is not proof that your current version has it. Check the options in your game.

The illustrated steps above are written to follow here without opening a video. They are our practical reading of Pete Complete’s 4 September 2026 Crawling Doom walkthrough, checked against its footage and the official notes linked below. The steps describe that launch-era interface. Use the costs, available options and restrictions shown in your current game; later updates and difficulty settings can change them. Recommendations about party fit and spending are editorial advice.
